Former AMV BBDO chief executive joins Essity health brand

Essity has recruited former Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO chief executive Sarah Douglas as its global brand director.

Douglas left the Omnicom-owned agency in April 2021 after spending over two years in the role. During her time she reportedly led the Essity account, managing several integrated campaigns.

The new global brand director joined AMV BBDO as a senior account director after previously working for Wunderman Thompson. In 2018, Douglas took over from Dame Cilla Snowball to become CEO of the firm formerly known as J Walter Thompson.

Essity’s work with AMV BBDO was renowned for its various campaigns including ‘Wombstories’, ‘Viva la vulva’ and ‘Blood normal’.

Revealing her move to Essity on LinkedIn yesterday, Douglas wrote: “Very excited to be back in Sweden to begin my new role at Essity. With much gratitude to new colleagues for the warm welcome already. I am hugely looking forward to working with you all.”

Most recently Maltesers teamed up with AMV BBDO to launch a new campaign in partnership with Channel 4 and Buzzfeed to draw attention to the difficulties new mums face when returning to work post maternity leave.
