Papa Johns has unveiled a new chorizo-themed campaign to tap into Generation Z audiences and boost brand awareness.
Created by agency Atomic London, the accompanying ‘Planet Chorizo’ spot reportedly takes inspiration from the style existent in Sex Education and Euphoria.
The 30-second film, directed by Dan French, sees a girl reach towards her TV for a slice of pizza, only to be sucked into the screen and transported into ‘Planet Chorizo’. The fashion and make-up pertinent throughout is said to tie in with Generation Z’s ‘obsession’ with the ‘space-age’ look.
“Spicy flavours like chorizo have long been a favourite space food among hungry astronauts, which is why it has enjoyed such a rich space heritage,” world-leading ‘spaceologist’ Dr Chris Welch said.
“But surprisingly, as recent evidence has revealed, its flavours and distinct aromas could really be considered out of this world – with traces of the same aromatic compound thought to be found in both space and chorizo.”
The multichannel campaign will also launch in China, Qatar, UAE, Oman, Poland, Germany and in selected LATAM markets this autumn.
Papa Johns vice president of international marketing, Jo Blundell, added: “Papa Johns is a brand that is synonymous with delicious flavour experiences. So, our new space inspired chorizo pizza range and intergalactic marketing campaign will take our fans on an epic taste journey into totally new dimensions.”
