Smoking Gun PR has today (17 November) announced that it has secured the integrated marketing comms account for iconic Staffordshire theme park, Alton Towers Resort.

The brand building specialist’s new remit will be focused around delivering a long-term project which includes the launch of two attractions and the development of a close working relationship with agency partners and the Resort’s in-house marketing team.

Smoking Gun’s programme of activity will ensure that audience engagement is retained throughout the redevelopment process, before the activation of crucial relaunch campaigns across owned and earned channels – notably for the famous Nemesis ride.

“What started off as a one-off strategic planning project has quickly blossomed into a much wider partnership,” Alton Towers head of PR, Sian Wilson said.

“We were very clear on what we needed from our agency partner to help support us through arguably the busiest couple of years in the Resort’s history.

She continued: “The Smoking Gun team ticks all the boxes, marrying expertise with commercial nous and a genuine knowledge and passion for the Resort.

“Already the agency has shown fantastic integration with other partners and has delivered outstanding results on some potentially tricky announcements.”

Alton Towers’ addition will strengthen Smoking Gun’s existing portfolio, with current key accounts including Interflora and the NHS.

Smoking Gun managing director, Rick Guttridge added: “Alton Towers is a world famous brand and a delight to add to our roster. This brief plays to our strengths of holistic big picture thinking and creative execution. The fact I’ve regained some serious ‘cool dad’ points from my kids is also an added bonus!”
