The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) has this week launched its ‘Wild Weekender’ campaign alongside WWF and the National Trust as part of their ‘Save Our Wild Isle’ partnership.

Created in collaboration with purpose-driven strategic and creative agency GOOD, ‘Wild Weekender’ will aim to promote the protection and restoration of UK nature by encouraging the public to take action and create their own wild spaces.

Running from 28 April to 1 May, the charity’s campaign aims to show people that any outdoor space can be transformed into a wildlife haven.

“It’s easy to see the scale of the challenges facing the natural world and feel helpless. But it doesn’t matter where you live or how much access you have to green spaces, every one of us can help nature fight back,” GOOD Agency executive creative director, Brynn Attewell said.

“The Wild Weekender shows how easy it is to make a difference, with as much or as little outdoor space as you have. Creatively we brought this to life on social channels through attention-grabbing, kaleidoscope-style imagery featuring our bold, bright and beautiful British wildlife.”

A centrepiece live event will take place on 29 April, with celebrity guests such as Steve Brown taking part. The campaign will be led by social media and email activity, supported by downloadable guides and toolkits.

RSPB head of community empowerment, Adam Murray added: “Nature is essential to all our lives, but it’s in crisis. We’ve lost 38 million birds in 50 years and 97% of our wildflower meadows since the 1930s.

“Whether you have a garden, a balcony, or an unloved community space, any outdoor area can become a flourishing wildlife haven. We hope the Wild Weekender will bring everyone together to plant, sow and grow for wildlife.”
