Dentsu Creative’s EMEA chief executive James Morris is set to leave the global agency with chief operating officer Ete Davies taking over his responsibilities in the interim.

Having initially joined Dentsu Creative in 2019 as chief executive for creative, entertainment and sport UK, Morris has held a range of senior leadership roles in his time at the firm, across both its UK and EMEA sections.

“As we have strengthened our creative offering at Dentsu, James has been instrumental in bringing together Dentsu’s creative brands and capabilities in the region into Dentsu Creative,” Dentsu EMEA CEO Guilio Malegori said.

“In 2023, under James’ leadership our creative work across EMEA has seen great success, achieving six agency of the year accolades at prestigious local awards ceremonies in our EMEA markets, over 230 shortlists and wins and recognition at shows around the world including Cannes Lions.”

He continued: “Notably, James has built a strong Dentsu Creative leadership team who will continue to grow and deliver best in class work and bring together the best of our talent across Dentsu to transform our clients’ businesses. I would like to thank James for his significant contribution in his time at Dentsu and wish him well in his new role.”

Before joining the Dentsu network, Morris had led production outfit Stink Studios as CEO for three years, after having spent five years at media agency Mediacom.

Morris himself added: “It has been my pleasure to work with such an entrepreneurial and talented team at Dentsu. Together we can be proud of the recent creative accolades as agency of the year at six prestigious award festivals and this year’s Cannes Lions recognition, the commercial year-on-year growth and our advances in our DEI ambitions and targets across the business. I will miss this lovely bunch of people.”
