KFC has put an end to the rumours that it would be launching a limited-edition Kentucky Fried Turkey for the festive season with its no-nonsense 2023 Christmas ad.

The ad, which is a straightforward response to the numerous suggestions and requests for Kentucky Fried Turkey, tells KFC fans in no uncertain terms that ‘We’re Sticking with Chicken’.

Created by creative agency Mother, the ad leans into the territory of user-generated content (UGC) but with a twist, as it is essentially the world’s first anti-UCG campaign, as it tells fans it saw them, heard them and ultimately… ignored them.

The 40-second ad will be supported by a variety of OOH promoting KFC’s festive offering, the ‘Stuffing Stacker’ – with not a hint of turkey in sight.

KFC says that every year, around this time, it is flooded with requests for turkey to be added to the menu – with this year’s Christmas campaign going all in to point out that the customer isn’t always right.

The fast food chain restaurant added: “Kentucky Fried Turkey? KFT?! You didn’t really think we were going to do it, did you? We’re KFC for heaven’s sake. And in case you didn’t know, the C stands for chicken.”

Strategy and innovation director Kate Wall added: “Customers are always right, but not when it comes to switching out chicken for turkey.

“We thank them for their input, but we’ll stick with the poultry we know and love.”
