Dentsu has appointed former IPG Mediabrands global chief strategy and consultancy officer Hamish Kinniburgh as its newest global chief strategy officer.

In his new capacity Kinniburgh will lead the global executive leadership team and will take responsibility for the strategic output of Carat, iProspect and dentsu X.

The appointment comes as part of a wider restructure, which saw Takeshi Sano appointed as CEO of Dentsu Japan and Andre Andrade appointed as CEO of Dentsu EMEA.

Kinniburgh brings 20 years plus worth of strategic experience – as well as his previous role at IPG Mediabrands, Kinniburgh also held a role as global chief strategy offer at UM New York.

In his new role he will report to global practice president Will Swayne. Speaking about Kinniburgh’s appointment, Swayne said: “We’re at a momentous moment for media right now as the landscape is changing at an astonishing pace and, this is impacting how clients perceive and partner with their agencies”.
