The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has retained London shop M&C Saatchi as its lead creative agency at the conclusion of a competitive pitch process.

M&C Saatchi will now be tasked with developing a range of new campaigns focused on encouraging more people to join the labour market, in a bid to create better outcomes for both job seekers and those already in work.

A new work due to launch early next year will aim to better inform so-called ‘legacy benefit claimants’ about the system’s permanent switch over to Universal Credit.

“M&C Saatchi’s response to our brief demonstrated innovative thinking and a real understanding of our challenges,” DWP deputy director for marketing, Andy Corcoran said.

“We’re pleased to be continuing our partnership with them as next year two of our key communication priorities are helping people back into work as well as migrating legacy benefit claimants to Universal Credit.”

According to Campaign, the DWP has declined to disclose which agencies and how many participated in the pitch process. The account win follows on from the firm’s large-scale re-structuring operation kicked-off last month.

M&C Saatchi client partner, Clare Richardson added: “We’re delighted to continue working with DWP, [which] delivers vital services and support to millions of people and we’re looking forward to ensuring their campaigns cut through and reach those who most need it.”
