Lay’s Crisps (the global brand name for Walkers) has partnered with football legends David Beckham and Thierry Henry to give football fans unexpected snack-themed rewards.

Forming part of its flagship partnership with the UEFA Champions League, ‘No Lays, No Game’ sees Beckham and Henry descend on Milan’s iconic San Siro stadium to take part in an ambitious ‘chip cam’ stunt for the crisp brand.

Shot less five minutes before kick-off, the spot opens with a short skit in which Henry selfishly finishes all of the Lay’s bag before Beckham can get a ‘chip’. Both legends then directly address the crowd via the stadium’s big screen TV to invite anyone with a full Lay’s bag to come and join them to watch the game.

Bizarrely addressing the San Siro fans in English, Henry and Beckham’s ‘chip cam’ proceeds to scour the 75,000 strong crowd for a lucky fan with a bag of Lays.

“We’ve heard from football fans from all over the world and they tell us the same thing: whether watching with a group of friends or at home solo, the experience is always better when sharing a bag of Lay’s,” PepsiCo global foods group VP of marketing, Ciara Dilley said.

“This year, No Lay’s, No Game is giving fans even more reasons to have Lay’s in hand. For those who do, something truly remarkable might happen. And those who don’t? They may be left missing out.”

After alighting on various groups of fans trying their utmost to get picked, including holding up a photo of a Lays packet on a phone, a father-daughter duo is spotted with a pair of shiny, unopened bags of Lays.

The lucky couple are then directed to the VIP gantry to join Henry and former AC Milan star Beckham to enjoy a Champions League group stage game between the Rossoneri and French champions PSG which took place late last year.

Beckham added: “We had a great day filming at the San Siro stadium for No Lay’s, No Game. Whenever Thierry and I get together it’s always a lot of fun – and it was fantastic being able to surprise 75,000 fans.”

I’ll never buy another packet of Walkers as long has that money grabbing, self serving, smirking, imbecile David Beckham is advertising them.
